Een stand-upcomedian is iemand die een vorm van cabaret doet waarbij veel improvisatie aan bod komt en de persoon inspeelt op de reactie van het publiek. De stand-upcomedian voert dan ook voornamelijk een humoristische monoloog. Huur je cabaret in, dan maakt de cabaretier meer gebruik van theatrale elementen tijdens zijn of haar show.
